How to Draw Stars

1Choose to Draw Star

On the Main Ribbon Bar , switch to the "Edit" category. Find the "Basic Shape Tool" tool button on the "Edit Tools" panel. Clicking the icon Baisc Shape Tool Icon will make the Basic Shape Tool the currently active drawing tool. In the options list box on the right, you will see a series of preseted basic graphics.Please select a suitable star style in the forth column from the left for subsequent drawing. As shown in the screenshot below.

2Draw Star by Drag

Move the mouse on the canvas near the position of the star to be drawn. Click the left mouse button, the position will become the center point of the star. Keeping the mouse pressed down, drag the mouse until the star has the desired size. Release the left mouse button to end the process.

3Adjust Size & Vertex Position if Needs

When you have finished drawing a star on the canvas, you can still adjust the size and vertex position of the star. Like the Selection Tool, before you adjust, you need to use the mouse to click to select the star to be adjusted. Unlike the Selection Tool, the Star Tool does not support multiple selection, that is, only one star or polygon object can be selected at a time. If you select other types of objects such as text, paths, or other basic shapes (rectangle, arc, spiral, etc.), you need to double-click to activate the corresponding editing tool to adjust them. You can adjust the size or vertex positions of the star by Drag.

When a star is selected, two rhombus-shaped anchor points will appears at the vertex position of the polygon. These two anchor points actually have special meanings. In the star shape, all the outer vertices are distributed on a circle with a larger diameter, and all the inner vertices are distributed on a circle with a smaller diameter. The center positions of these two circles coincide. Every outer vertex is closely followed by an inner vertex. Staggered to each other. The two anchor points are used to adjust the radius of the outer circle and the inner circle respectively.

4Adjust Corners, Spoke Ratio, Roundness and Randmization

Logo Designer Pro provides several options to set or adjust the star objects. Including Corners, Spoke Ratio, Roundness and Randmization. As shown below.

Logo Creation - Draw Star Objects Options

  • Corners: Used to set the number of corners of the selected star object. Generally speaking, the number of sides and vertices of a star shape should be twice this number.
    Logo Creation - Star Object has 5 corners Logo Creation - Star Object has 7 corners Logo Creation - Star Object has 10 corners
    Corners = 5 Corners = 7 Corners = 10
  • Spoke Ratio: It specifies the ratio of the radius of the circle circumscribed by the inner vertex to the radius of the circle circumscribed by the outer vertex. The value range is between 0 and 1.
    Logo Creation - Star Object Spoke Ratio = 0.375 Logo Creation - Star Object Spoke Ratio = 0.5 Logo Creation - Star Object Spoke Ratio = 1.0
    Spoke Ratio = 0.375 spoke Ratio = 0.5 spoke Ratio = 1.0
  • Roundness: An arc is defined to connect two adjacent edges at the vertex position. The range of Roundness is 0 to 1. The larger the value set, the larger the radius corresponding to the arc, and the smoother the junction of adjacent edges. The opposite is the opposite.
    Logo Creation - Polygon Roundness  = 0 Logo Creation - Polygon Roundness  = 0.25 Logo Creation - Polygon Roundness  = 0.50
    Roundness = 0 Roundness = 0.25 Roundness = 0.50
  • Randmization: By default, each side of a star is the same length. It is a regular star. After Randmization is set, the length of each side becomes randomized. The larger the value is set, the greater the difference between the length of the side and the side.
    Logo Creation - Polygon Randmization = 0 Logo Creation - Polygon Randmization = 0.10 Logo Creation - Polygon Randmization = 0.20
    Randmization = 0 Randmization = 0.10 Randmization = 0.20
  • Reset: Restore to the default value. Among them, Corners = 5, Spoke Ratio = 0.5 and Roundness and Randmization are both 0.
